Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle - In the list of Holidays 2020, the first to mention is the Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, which is celebrated by the followers of Christianity each and every year. The pre ceremonies of this event begin a week before the actual festival. It is when an offering of a pig is made to Knia Partyhat (Thunder God), believing it ward off the demons. Afterwards, the opening ceremony of this grand festival is inaugurated by the chief of the tribe or village, who is popularly known as Daloi. While this festival is going on, the younger generation of the locality create an exquisite ornamental structure out of bamboo, which is known as ‘Rath’. Finally, the ‘Rath’ is immersed in water when the festival ends.


MHIP Day in Mizoram - The MHIP, also known as The Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl, happens to be one of the largest voluntary organisations to be ever established in the state of Mizoram. Its main goal is social welfare and the organisations stands true to its cause till date. 6th of July is the date when this organisation laid its founding stones in this state. Thus, in memoriam of this, every year, the MHIP Day is celebrated.
