Hijri Calendar (Arabi: ٱلتَّقْوِيم ٱلْهِجْرِيّ, Romankrit: Al-Taqweem Al-Hijri) It is a lunar calendar with a year of 354 or 355 days divided into 12 months, known as the Muslim calendar in English. The Islamic calendar is used to keep track of key dates in Islam. The Gregorian calendar is used by citizens in practically all nations where Islam is the prevalent religion. The Levant and Mesopotamia (Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine) use Syriac month names, although the religious calendar is Hijri.

This calendar uses the Hijri era, which was established as the Islamic New Year in 622 CE. During that year, Muhammad and his companions traveled from Mecca to Medina and created the first Muslim community (ummah), which is known as the Hijra.

Islamic Holidays 2024 (Islamic Calendar 2024)

The Islamic Holidays 2024 is based on 12 lunar months. It is mostly used to obtain information on the Muslim Festival 2024. This is a lunar calendar as well. It lasts 12 months and 354 days. This calendar is considered the official calendar in the Gulf countries, particularly in Saudi Arabia, although other Muslim countries use the Islamic calendar primarily for religious purposes and the Gregorian calendar for civil purposes.

Islamic Religion

Islam is becoming the country's second most popular religion. Shia and Sunni are two sub-sects of Islam. The Quran is Islam's holy book, and it contains references to Prophet Muhammad's teachings. Who, by Allah's command, has broadened his teachings in this holy book. The messages that the Prophet received from Allah and recounted in the Hadith form the foundation of Islam. In today's world, the Islam faith is widespread. According to Islam, Allah has appointed prophets (special messengers of Allah) to guide mankind on Earth from time to time. Rasool are the prophets to whom Allah has given scriptures or religious writings. Muslims gather in mosques to worship Allah and offer prayers to him.

Islamic Holidays 2024: Most Important Days For Muslims

Shab-e-barat: Shab-e-Barat, also known as the Night of Forgiveness, is a major Islamic holiday held on the 15th of Sha'ban. On this night, Muslims all over the world pray to Allah for forgiveness of their sins. Furthermore, this holy night can be used to seek mercy for deceased and sick family members. On this night, it is believed that Allah decides the fate and future of all living things. Muslims around the world commemorate the night in various ways, depending on cultural diversity and local traditions.

Shab-e-Barat means "Night of Atonement." It is known by several distinct names in many cultures around the world, including Chiragh e Barat, Baraat Ki Raat, Beraat Kandili, and Nisfu Sayaban. It is considered to be one of the holiest nights in Islam. This night is used by people to atone for their ancestors' misdeeds and to save them from the fires of hell.

Ramzan: The Islamic/Hijri calendar considers Ramadan to be the ninth month. Ramzan is sometimes 29 days long and sometimes 30 days long. Ramadan is one of Islam's five pillars. This is the month when Allah sent the first message to Prophet Muhammad. Ramadan is derived from the Arabic root ramida an or ar-ramad. Muslims all throughout the world fast during Ramadan, which lasts from dawn until dusk.

Ramadan Moon Sighting Dua (Prayer)

Read this Dua- Allahumma ahlilhu `alaina bil-yumani wal-imaan, salamati wa-islam, rabbi wa rabbuq allah

It means- Ya Allah, give us blessings, faith, and security throughout this time. Allah is the Lord of all.

Lalyat-ul-Qadr: Lalyat-ul-Qadr, also known as the "Night of Power," is the holiest event in the Islamic calendar. The Angel Jibril delivered the first verses of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during this night. This night falls among the last ten days of Ramadan and is commonly considered the 27th day of the holy month.

Lalyat-ul-Qadr Dua: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Read this Dua- Allahum-ma inn-ka afuwun karimu tuhibbul af wa fa'fu anni

It means: Ya Allah, You are indeed generous. You love to forgive, so please forgive me.

Ashura: In Islam, Ashura is a day of remembrance. It is observed every year on the 10th of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. Ashura is widely observed by Shia Muslims as a day of grief to commemorate the death of Husayn ibn Ali, who was decapitated during the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE. On the day of Ashura, Hazrat Imam Hussain, Hazrat Muhammad's grandson, and his family were martyred in the field of Karbala.

Milad-un-Nabi: Milad un-Nabi is a significant festival for many Muslims. 'Maulid-un-Nabi' means Hazrat Muhammad's birthday in Arabic. This event takes place on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal. It takes place in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which begins with the sighting of the moon. The date also commemorates the Prophet's death anniversary.

Isra And Miraj: Isra Mi'raj is one of the most significant events in Islamic religious history, consisting of two chapters on Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) night travel to Israel and Mi'raj in the year 621. The Qur'an briefly describes some of the incidents that occurred during Isra and Mi'raj.

Jamat Ul Wida: Jamat Ul Wida, the last Friday of Ramadan, is a significant day filled with blessings and salvation. Muslims commemorate this day by reciting the holy book of the Quran, offering special prayers, and participating in other forms of social service. They take part in philanthropic activities such as feeding the destitute and needy. People gather at mosques to pray for world peace, prosperity, and harmony.

Eid-ul-fitr: In Islam, the word Eid, which means "festivity" or "festival," is highly regarded. According to Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) instruction, Muslims celebrate Eid at two distinct times: Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha. These are the moments when Allah (SWT) is pleased when his followers rejoice and encourage everyone to be happy.

Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha are sometimes confused, yet they are two separate events with distinct meanings. Both festivals are observed in the same manner, but they memorialize separate events and, as a result, involve two opposing aspects of Islam.

Eid ul adha: Eid-ul-Adha happens on the tenth day of the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Dhu-al-Hijjah. Following the completion of the annual holy journey of Hajj, the day of celebration is dependent on the valid sighting of the moon—one of the crucial Five Pillars of Islam, a must for all Muslims who meet particular conditions is a liability.
