A special ceremonial sweetened pudding made of Jaggery or Gur, Curd and White Flour is made and distributed by the girls.
Kumauni Holi is a cultural festival celebrated on the day of Holi with great fervour and enthusiasm in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It signifies the victory of good over evil as well as the beginning of the sowing season after winters. The rituals of Cheer Bandhan or Cheer Dahan (Holika Dahan), Chharadi (Holi) and Shubh Kamna are followed by the Kumaon natives. The colours are naturally made with dried flowers, and applied to each other, and prayers are recited in unison.
Ganga Dussehra commemorates the descent of the holy Ganges, and is celebrated with great passion by people.
